About the Creator

Kevin Creedy comes from a family of makers. Born and raised in South Africa, he immigrated to the United States with his family in 1996 at age sixteen. Craftsmanship runs in the blood: his mother is Berdine Creedy, the internationally collected doll artist behind Berdine Creedy Originals. Kevin’s own art took shape in wood — for a decade he earned his living building reproduction Arts and Crafts period furniture and custom pieces, work measured in patience, precision, and how it makes you feel when you run your hand over it.

Life later handed Kevin a harder chapter. Coming through it, and through PTSD, taught him something about himself: he is a fighter. SproutASeed is an extension of that fight — a comeback built one design at a time.

For the past five years, Kevin has been quietly obsessed with controlled environments for growing plants. He invented a new way to join the triangles of geodesic domes — no hubs and struts — and built a prototype grow cabinet crafted to stand in a living room like a piece of fine furniture. The computer-driven grow light at the heart of this campaign is a year and a half of that obsession distilled into something anyone can use: no rabbit holes, no learning curve — plug in a tray and grow. Four more designs are already waiting for prototyping.

Kevin holds this grow light to the same standard he held his furniture: when he saw the first finished unit in person, the quality and attention to detail told him what he needed to know. It’s what he calls a feel-good product — the kind of work you look back on with a full heart. This campaign is the first step in sharing that work, and there is much more to come.
